Energy Required

Miles driven ÷ efficiency (mi/kWh) gives annual kWh needed. This varies by vehicle - a Tesla Model 3 uses ~4 mi/kWh.

Cost Calculation

kWh × tariff rate for each charging method. Petrol cost uses litres consumed at your MPG × price per litre.

At the average UK electricity rate of 24p/kWh, charging at home costs around 7p per mile. For an average driver doing 7,400 miles per year, that is roughly £500-£600 per year. With an off-peak EV tariff at 7p/kWh, this drops to around £150-£200 per year.
